Management
Our people are the greatest asset of our company and the foundation on which our values are built and maintained. Many employees have been with the company for over five years and several for longer than ten years, with most of our employees living locally in Kalgoorlie-Boulder.
Jarahfire is led by an experienced management team and a committed team of Supervisors, Drillers, Shotfirer’s and Plant Mechanics.
With a current staff level of 60 people, many of our staff are multi-skilled allowing flexibility to alternate between drilling and blasting areas.
John Docker
Managing Director
John is a drill and blast professional with over 30 years of experience in the Australian mining and quarry industries across a broad range of commodities. John held a senior management position at Stanley Mining Services before Mr Docker forming Alanjon Drill and Blast Services with another partner. In late 1998 John left Alanjon to form Jarahfire Drilling Pty Ltd.
Troy Norris
Operations Manager
Troy started out in the mining industry in 2005 and was rapidly promoted to Drill and Blast Supervisor, Operations Manager and eventually General Manager of Prime Explosives. Troy joined Jarahfire Drilling as a Shotfirer in 2014 and has built a great rapport with both Client and Jarahfire Personnel. Troy’s management history made him the prime candidate to step up into the Operations Manager role upon Jarahfire Drilling Site Supervisory restructure in early 2015.
Wade Spooner
Health & Safety Coordinator
Wade started his mining career with Jarahfire in 2010 working as an offsider on the Blast crew while studying at the University of Western Australia. With his studies completed, Wade began full-time employment with Jarahfire in 2013 and moved into the role of OHS Advisor. Since the end of 2017, Wade has prioritised his OHS Advisor role and currently fulfils those duties, while focusing on educating employees on risk management and a proactive approach to safety.
John Simmons
General Manager
John is a Driller and Shotfirer with over 25 years of experience in the WA mining and exploration industry. John has previously worked for Maxron Drilling, Thompson Drilling and Mundy Drilling at various locations throughout WA drilling RC, Aircore, RAB, Diamond and Blast Hole until he joined Jarahfire in 1998. John is now the General Manager of Jarahfire Drilling looking after all business aspects of the company.
Tim Hein
Maintenance Manager
Tim has been involved in the maintenance of Jarahfire’s equipment for over 15 years after completing his apprenticeship with the company. Tim has a vast knowledge of drilling equipment used in the field by Jarahfire and all the associated aspects of his department. Tim is also a Blast Hole driller and Shotfirer that brings an excellent understanding to his role.
